Hi withcards!
This week has flown by, probably because I am writing this early, as I am prepping for a very special visit! Next week I’ll be travelling to Greece to see my family and attend my graduation ceremony. Time flies when you are having a good time.
This week I wasn’t as consistent with streams, partly because of various tasks, partly because of my guest. Imposter syndrome and anxiety have made a strong comeback and, for reasons I can’t be too open about, I go through daily reminders that I should be doing better (?) at what I do. I really should start writing more technical blogs and learning more, but all this can be so overwhelming at times. Can’t I just go about doing my job and getting better at it without having to make it my whole personality?
Anyway that’s all for today’s rant. I think I will keep this post short in general, as tribute to my exhausting (yet exciting) week.
Today I Learned
This week I have learned that expectations for fresh graduates like me can go far and beyond my wildest dreams 😂 Really making an effort out there to make us feel inadequate.
Jokes aside, I have had some, but not great, progress debugging my HELENA-IR application, and am now mostly making progress towards making the UI/UX better (considering it is supposed to be used by children), and am ready any time to go in with CSS styling.
I wish I could go more in depth with these and give you some valuable tips and information, but I am still not there yet.
As for my satellite imagery project, goals have shifted a bit, but it is still very interesting to work on. Just a tad bit more overwhelming.
What I am reading
I continue to read “Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World”, by Haruki Murakami, but still haven’t picked up the pace. I'm hoping to catch up towards the end of the week while lounging with my friend in a nice cafe. (If we are not too busy gossiping).
“Empire of the Vampire”, by Jay Kristoff, is going better in terms of pace, since it is my evening read for entertainment so it’s easier to pick up. So far it has remained consistent with the initial criticism, however a nice atmosphere around it has started to form. I won’t say the book is cosy, because it is far from it, but I am cosy when reading this book. Something about brutal and cold winter settings when you are under your fave blanket with your cat curled up at your feet makes the reading experience all the more cosy.
Casual Magic
I will risk being a bit cheesy here, but the Casual Magic of this week was my dad. Well, I guess you don't choose your Casual Magic moment; it chooses you. He really showed up for me this week, and there was this moment of relief, when I felt an immense appreciation for him. Family is a very intricate pattern of relationships and people changing within them. At the end of the day I think I always feel grateful for mine. It’s filled with people I genuinely admire.
What was your Casual Magic of the week? Do let me know and brighten my day with your comment.
That’s all for this week, witchards. I know it’s a bit short, but I’ve got to keep you wanting more 😏Just kidding! I will catch up with you next week from Greece. Until then, stay witchy <3
Safe travels, Bella. And get well soon
